The Lost Shrine |
The smooth grey stone beneath your bare feet seems to sparkle with tiny rainbow - coloured inclusions. The colours seem to be reflected off the plain whitewashed walls of the courtyard. They also enhance the stark besuty of the red brick Temple; a single building which dominates the skyline. The sky above is clear, deep blue and the sun is hot on your bare head as you reach the marquee in the centre of the ancient courtyard. You enter the marquee, and see a glowing green hypnotic disk spinning slowly on a stand, blown by the gentle wind. There are seats: some of them occupied by glassy-eyed students who arrived early. You are alone. Your curiosity to learn magic had brought you here; but now you understand a fundamental truth about magic, and that is at some point, every magician outgrows their need for a teacher. At this point, they must learn through practice alone. You have emerged from the Temple, a changed person, ready to personally take on the challenges of magic the world will give you. Go in peace. |
